Pet product quality control needs clear rules, not random spot checks. A standard QC workflow covers pre-production, in-line inspection and pre-shipment inspection. This checklist works for pet beds, nylon leashes, interactive toys, bowls and grooming accessories.

Pre-Production: Inspect Raw Materials

Check fabric thickness, plastic hardness, metal fitting safety and dye stability. For fabric items, confirm color fastness and no strange chemical odor. Many cheap pet beds use recycled filler that causes allergies for dogs and cats.

During Production: Mid-Run Inspection

Check stitching strength, buckle locking function, edge smoothness and size accuracy. Separate defects into three levels: critical, major and minor. Critical defects include sharp edges, choking hazards and toxic materials — these must be rejected immediately. Major defects are functional failures such as broken buckles and leaky bowls. Minor defects are cosmetic marks that do not affect safety.

Pre-Shipment: The Final Gate

Randomly sample finished goods according to AQL standards. Check packaging, label printing, barcode correctness and whether shipping packaging can survive long cross-border transit. Ask the supplier to send inspection photos and videos before shipment.

Post-Arrival Checks at Your Warehouse

Even if the factory passed inspection, damages may happen during sea or air shipping. Record all defect data and share feedback with your supplier continuously.

When you standardize QC rules and communicate them clearly with your factory, your return rate will drop significantly, and your pet product reviews will become more stable.
